PAOLA STACCIOLI

CERAMIST

FLORENCE

She  was born in Florence in 1972,  graduated in 1999 in humanistic studies, with a thesis on a theatrical work by Charles Dickens.
The following decision to dedicate herself to pottery was the conclusion of a series of experiences which she had made during the years with applied arts (batik, glass), searching for an interesting substratum for her decorative abilities.

Thus bizarre furnishings with unusual domestic shapes, produced using moulds or clay slabs and supporting decorative and pictorial elements that sparkle with colours derived from the lustre technique, were created.

The firing in a reducing atmosphere blends and mixes up flowers, fish, globes of light and cells of squares on pieces that, for their shapes and colours, result not only unique but irreplicable  for the maker herself, who is surprised at each kiln-opening rite by the result that the metallic oxides, sparkling with sulphurous reds, cobalt blues, cupric greens have given.

For Art!Gosh! Paola suggests a series of works inspired by nature: two jewels, a decorative plate and a pet teapot.
